A Blustery Week

You guys, I am so over summer thundershowers and they are just getting started. I typically look forward to a good afternoon thunderstorm. The drops falling on the window-unit air conditioner in my living room mimic the sound of rain on a tin roof. The sound of thunder rumbles like a gentle sigh. It’s the perfect time for curling up with a good book and a glass of iced coffee or tea.

Last Monday, the mountain where I live had one of the worst storms its had in years. Our power was out for over 24 hours. The WiFi took days to stabilize. You can see pictures of the devastation from a local group’s Facebook page. Hopefully, you’re experiencing kinder weather where you are!

When you’re a first-world creature like I am, things like loss of power and WiFi are a very big deal. Even though we got them back, by the last night, after six straight days of rain, I was feeling a little depressed. According to the weather channel, there was no end in sight with their predicting daily chances of rain from now until June 2nd.

Living up to its reputation, however, the Weather Channel was wrong and today we had warm, sunny weather. I even got to turn the A/C back on! I’m sad to report that there is still more rain in the forecast for this week and I am not looking forward to it at all.

But hey, do you know what would cheer me up? Book recommendations! Comment below to let me know what you’re reading. I can’t wait to hear from you!
